Sheridan Smith will reprise her role as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl when the show comes to the Palace Theatre in the new year.

The West End hit musical is now on tour and it has been confirmed that its Olivier Award-winning star is joining the cast for selected shows.

Sheridan and co will be in Manchester for the tour’s launch at the Palace Theatre on February 18, 2017, where it will run until February 25.

The popular 35-year-old, who has also won a BAFTA and National Television Award, will also perform in a number of other theatres on the UK tour, including Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Bradford, Cardiff and Dublin

Michael Mayer’s new production of Funny Girl, which first opened on Broadway in 1964, ran at London’s Savoy Theatre until October 8th and it has now hit the road stopping in Manchester for a very limited run.

Mayer, whose previous work includes Spring Awakening, will also direct the touring production.

The role of Fanny Brice was first made famous of course by Barbra Streisand however our favourite local girl Sheridan has truly made the part her own and we are over the moon at this fantastic news.
